SUNDAY MBA is for Warri Wolves--- NPL Rules.

The Nigeria Premier League has waded into the on-going feud between Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers over the ownership of Sunday Mba and Chigozie Agbim by ruling that the Super Eagles duo belong to Warri Wolves.
Enugu Rangers is laying claim to Mba, insisting he has always been their player and had been training with them before the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa.

However, in a letter signed by the executive secretary of the NPL, Tunji Babalola, Mba and Agbim have been declared as players of Warri wolves .

The league interim management committee has, therefore, asked any club interested in the players to contact Warri Wolves.

A tussle arose between Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers over the ownership of the 24-year-old Eagles midfielder since foreign clubs started showing interest in the player after the Afcon 2013.

Spokesman of the Warri-based professional football club, Moses Etu, said on Sunday that the Delta State-owned team was not ready to join issues with Rangers on the player as Mba knew he had a two-year contract with Warri Wolves.

"Sunday Mba has only spent one year out of the two-year contract he signed with us. It is on the basis of this that we are giving him up till Friday, March 1 to return to our camp ahead of the new football season we are preparing for," observed.

The Warri Wolves media officer hinted that the matter has been reported to the Nigeria Football Federation.

"We have absolute confidence in NFF believing that they will follow the path of justice. We have the documents signed by Mba and requests by Rangers for us to clear the players for them which we refused to do," he said.

"We have also written the NFF to apply the relevant sanctions regarding inducement and misleading of the public by Rangers International on this matter."

Etu further warned that Warri Wolves would not hesitate to report the matter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the world football governing body, FIFA if need be.

"We have confidence in NFF but we won't hesitate to take the matter to CAF and FIFA. Rangers can be banned from further participation in the CAF Champions League while the player faces the prospect of being banned for years," stressed the club spokesman.

Although some foreign clubs are said to be making enquiries on how to sign the Super Eagles players, the current ownership struggle between the two NPL clubs may scuttle such moves. Warri Wolves last week placed a one million euro transfer tag on the player now under dispute.

The defender rose to stardom after he scored two goals for Nigeria at the Nations Cup, which put Nigeria in reckoning and ultimately claiming the 2013 Afcon trophy.

Now the hitherto unknown local player is now the talk of several transfers within European clubs.

Minna – Former military  president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida has said that the  intending merger of some  political parties to serve as a strong opposition to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) is a welcome development in our political system.

Answering questions from Journalists at his hill top mansion. Minna Niger state , the former President said as a strong advocate of two political parties for the country, the emerging scenario will surely vindicate him on his stand for  two political party system which he said is the only way out for the country politically.

" I have been a very good advocate of two party system for the country since I was the president. When I said we need only two parties some years back, they said I am a soldier and I should shut up but now, many are seeing relevance in my agitation," Gen. Babangida remarked.

According to him, "I am happy with the merger talk that is going on; it is a welcome political development in our political experience and if it succeeds, it will surely vindicate me and move the country on politically."

The former military president who took a swipe on our political leadership so far said most politicians in the country are much more concerned about the votes they garner from the electorates during elections but have failed to serve them more appropriately after wining the elections.

" It is unfortunate that the political elites  have failed to enlighten the ordinary man and carry them along; nobody is talking about enlightening the ordinary man because they are only interested in their votes and soon forget them after getting to power,"  he noted.

He continued, " the only thing we are busy doing is wasting our energy in fighting on who becomes the chairman of this or that and until we carry the people along and serve them diligently, we will have a long way to go in this country."

On whether he is comfortable with the comments of former American president, Bill Clinton accusing the Federal government that it has mismanaged the country's  resources, the former president said it is what the foreigners read from the home based journalist that they read,   rely and comment on.

"You don't need a foreigner to tell you this. You write it yourself and they read it and so, what is the problem with the comment. I am comfortable with the comment,"  Gen. Babangida declared.

Leaders charged to promote youth development.

Dr. Myles Munroe
Motivational speaker and author, Dr.  Myles Munroe, has urged Nigerian leaders to give priority to youth development.
He said the future belonged to youths, adding that one of the obligations of a true leader was to transfer knowledge to coming generations.
Munroe spoke in Lagos on Tuesday as the guest lecturer at the inauguration of Strategy for Mentoring Initiative and Leadership Empowerment.
SMILE also graduated its one-year leadership trainees.

Munroe in his speech, titled, Youth Empowerment: A catalyst for change, urged leaders to think more about the next generation.
He described as regrettable, a situation whereby many leaders in the developing countries failed to leave behind enviable legacies.
"Leadership is what happens in our absence because when you are present to do everything you are less a leader," he said.
SMILE's president, Mrs Adebimpe Bamgbose-Martins, said Nigeria must keep its focus on youths, to drive meaningful progress and change.
She urged the government at all levels to formulate polices for youths and make available funds to ensure they are self-sufficient.

Excessive Force...4 students killed: Police and Army deny involvement.

Four Students of Nasarawa State University Shot Dead During Protests | Police & Army Deny Involvement in the Shootings

By Adeola Adeyemo
A deadly protest around the vicinity of Nasarawa State University, Keffi on Monday has claimed the lives of four students.
The students were reportedly protesting over the scarcity of water and power on the campus for several days. The students of the institution were said to have blocked the Abuja/Keffi road during the protest.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the Nasarawa State Police Command, Michael Ada confirmed the killing of the students and told Punch that seven others received gunshot injuries. About 17 other students were arrested by security agents, including the institution's President of the Students Union.
During the protests, policemen and soldiers were dispatched to the area to restore normalcy. However, both the Police and Soliders are denying their involvement in the killing of the students.
Ada told Punch that the Police were not involved in the shootings and that they only cleared the highway blocked by the protesting students. He said that any question relating to the incident should be directed to the Army.
Similarly denying their involvement, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, denied the claim that soldiers did the shooting. He told Punch that soldiers were on patrol duty during the demonstration at Keffi but did not have any altercation with the students whatsoever.
"What these people are writing is not correct, Soldiers were not deployed and couldn't have carried out the shooting. Our men were on patrol duty at Keffi. The students, who were protesting, had blocked the road but soldiers did not have any altercation with them. There were the police and other security agencies, who were on the ground to handle the situation. There is also this information we have that the police even recovered some arms from the students who were protesting."
The institution has now been shut down till further notice.
***
The death of the students over such protests is really saddening. Why should an institution go without water and electricity for days, resulting in students' protests? The web of corruption that has denied Nigerians such basic amenities is not only annoying, but is causing the lives of our youth.
The Police deny shooting the students. The Soldiers deny too. So who killed them? Their deaths would most likely join the bandwagon of unsolved murder cases. What a waste.
May their souls Rest In Peace.

Tony Anenih new BoT Chairman of PDP

Tony Anenih elected PDP BoT Chairman

ABUJA- THE National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday described the  election of former Chairman of Board of Trustees, BoT,  Tony Anenih into the office of Chairman of the board  as a bold step towards ensuring peace and harmony within the ranks of the Party.
In a statement  signed by PDP  National Publicity Secretary,  Chief Olisa Metuh, the PDP however  expressed confidence that Chief Anenih's antecedents as a mobilizer and consensus builder over the years will contribute to the long term stability of the Party.
Metuh said,  "Chief Anenih's tireless participation and critical role in the formation of the PDP places him in good stead to provide wise counsel and direct the influential Board of Trustees to follow the noble ideals of the founders of the Party.
His wealth of experience and acclaimed reputation as a democrat and consensus builder are assets that the Party needs at this critical point in our democratic evolution.
" Chief Anenih's unanimous election by all members of the Board of Trustees has disappointed opposition elements and doomsday prophets who expected the process to result in rancor and acrimony.
"This  is yet another signal that the PDP is ever united and ready to overcome all perceived obstacles in our drive to provide focused leadership and service to the people of Nigeria.
"PDP calls  all Party members across board to give maximum cooperation to the new chairman of the BOT who has himself pledged to broaden the spread of the umbrella to accommodate all tendencies."

Awake To Righteousness

Awake To Righteousness

"Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." 1 Corinthians 15:34
It is sad to know that so many believers are more sin conscious than Righteousness conscious. Sin consciousness will keep you in perpetual bondage of sin and you will never be free. As long as the devil keeps you in remembrance of your sins, he will keep you in the bondage of sin. The Bible declares that sin shall not have dominion over you because you are not under the law but under grace – Romans 6:14. You are the righteousness of God in Christ- 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Now that you have the gift of righteousness and you are meant to reign in life's challenges; you can never reign in the affairs of life as long as you keep seeing yourself under the control of sin. That is why the Apostle John wrote in 1 John 3:9- He that is born of God cannot sin, why? Because you are the righteousness of God and you do not have the seed of sin.
Today's text says you must Awake to righteousness and sin not. In other words put on the mentality of righteousness. You must agree that you always have a right standing with God and so, cannot sin. The sin issue was permanently put to rest by righteousness: Righteousness that God gives to you at new birth over rules the power of sin. Receive it today and walk in the consciousness of sin.

The Battle for Your Destiny

No matter what you are going through in your life, know that there is good news in the midst of it: you have a Protector! The Bible tells us that greater is He that is in us than the enemy that is in the world! You may be going through a difficult time today, but know that the enemy only attacks those who are a threat to his kingdom. He knows your potential; and he knows that once you embrace who God has called you to be, you become unstoppable!

Has the Barcelona bubble burst?

 Segun Odegbami
In the aftermath of Afcon 2013 the world has returned to a diet of EPL, La Liga and the European Club championships.
Although I like Arsenal for their consistent struggle to play attractive, attacking football, it is Barcelona that have completely stolen my heart. Who would not fall in love with a team that brings delight to its fans week after week in all competitions with consistent, regular displays of the best form of football available to the world in this past decade?
My relationship with Barca has lasted almost 10 years.
I do not even recall how it started but I just know that I have always felt a thing about the Spanish city. The moment I observed that there was something unique, refreshing, exciting and entertaining about the team, I became hooked for life. Except for the occasional hiccup, the fans of Barcelona, unlike the more numerous fans of the Gunners, have not been let down. We are in an almost perpetual mode of celebration.
Changes in how the game of football is played hardly ever happen. There have only been a few changes throughout the history of the game, with the ‘total football’ introduced by the Dutch being the most significant.
Otherwise, changes have been limited to fitter players, increases in the speed of play, slight modifications in beating the off-side trap, attacking full-backs, goal-line technology and other changes to how players organise themselves on the field of play during a match.
It is only in Spain and in the team called Barcelona that the most radical development in playing style has taken place.
I don’t know how it was done but from the Barcelona Youth Academy the world saw the birth of a generation of football players that held it spellbound for almost a decade.
This has also given rise to an army of researchers all over the world, attempting to understand what produced the two greatest teams in the world of the past decade and the best player in history – the national team of Spain, the club called Barcelona and the man named Lionel Messi. They are all from the same source, conceived in the same womb.
Coaches of other teams (ask Ferguson and Mourinho for their nightmarish experiences) have had sleepless nights trying to concoct counter-strategies. In the last two seasons, only Chelsea and Real Madrid have, with some luck, managed to cage the rampaging ball players of Barcelona. Even those efforts took so much from the two teams that this season they have become a shadow of themselves.
All of that may be about to change. There is a new force on the horizon.
Last Wednesday night, notice was served in the manner that the Italian giants, AC Milan, rendered Tiki Taka impotent. In their first-leg match of the Champions League, the Italians masterfully defeated Barcelona with ease and with such a simple and effective strategy that, perhaps, a turning point may finally have been reached in the struggle to stop Barcelona and, by extension, Spain.
The playing style of Barcelona, even in the match last Wednesday, did not change. They still dominated AC Milan with their ball possession and endless running but they never looked likely to break down the well–organised defence of AC Milan. The Italians turned almost every breakdown of Barca’s long and ineffective spell on the ball into a threat at the other end, making the Spaniards unsure of themselves, less creative and even reluctant sometimes to go forward in their usual ferocious manner.
Last Wednesday night I was humbled by the manner of Barcelona’s defeat. This was a team that had all its best players present, including the world’s best two – Messi and Iniesta.
The world is waiting to see what will happen when the two teams meet again at Camp Nou for the return leg. Has the lion been finally caged? Has an antidote for Tiki Taka been found?
How will Barcelona respond to this real threat?
That match will provide the first indication of what will happen in Rio De Janeiro in the summer of 2014. Spain will attempt to continue their dominance of world football by creating history and becoming the first European national team to win a World Cup played in South America.
Lionel Messi will attempt to erase all doubts about who the greatest football player in the history of the game is. With a World Cup medal added to his chest, there will be no doubt anymore, even among his worst critics, that he is the greatest football player the world has ever seen.
Oh, how I hate AC Milan now for the ‘damage’ they have done!

How we saved Dasuki IBB, from assassins – DSS

How we saved Dasuki IBB, from assassins – DSS

 ·
By Soni Daniel, Regional Editor, North & Chris Ochayi.on FEBRUARY 21, 2013

ABUJA — The Department of State Security, DSS, yesterday narrated how its operatives saved former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida and the deposed Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, from being assassinated by Iranian-trained Nigerian terrorists.
Deputy Director, Public Relations of the DSS, Marilyn Ogar who paraded the Iranian-trained Nigerian terrorists yesterday in Abuja said: “General Babangida and Alhaji Dasuki were among prominent Nigerians targeted by the group for elimination because they were said to be showing support for Israel and the United States of America”.

The 50-year-old local leader of the Shiite Sect in Ilorin, Kwara State, Abdullahi Mustapha Berende, who was arrested last December before he could execute his deadly act, was paraded by the DSS in Abuja, yesterday. He was said to have been trained and funded by elements with strong connections in international terrorist activities.
Berende, the DSS said, was commissioned by his sponsors to identify Nigerians and institutions sympathetic to Israeli and American interests in Nigeria for possible attack, was paraded with two of his accomplices – Sulaiman Olayinka Saka and Saheed Aderemi Adewumi while the third suspect, Bunyamin Yusuf, is still at large.
Mastermind trained in the production of IEDs
According to Marilyn Ogar, “investigation shows that Berende gained admission in 2006 to study a six-month course in Modern Shia Islamic Teaching (Da’awa) at Imam Khomeni University Iran and was thereafter recruited by some Iranian elements when he returned for further studies in 2011 and trained in the use of AK-47 assault rifle, pistols, production of Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs.
“Upon his return to Nigeria, Berende was invited by his sponsors for further briefing in 2012 and asked to establish a terrorist cell in the South-West part of Nigeria with specific emphasis on Lagos.
“In a bid to set up the terrorist centre, Berende recruited Sulaiman Saka, Saheed Adewumi and Bunyamin Yusuf to assist him in accomplishing the tasks.
“Part of the deadly group’s brief included identifying and gathering intelligence on public places and prominent places frequented by Americans and Israelis to facilitate their attack by Iranian terrorists and providing specific details on US agencies such as USAID, Max, Zim International Shipping Company, A.A. Consulting, Peace Corps and the Jewish Cultural Centre in Lagos.
“The suspected terrorist was given $24,000 and E3,500 as well as coded names such as “Uncle” for Israel and “Aunt” for the United States of America by his Iranian handlers so as to facilitate their dastardly mission in Nigeria.
“Berende confessed that Lagos was chosen for attack because the Iranians believe that Israel has an intelligence facility in the area for spying on Iran and that he personally took pictures of the Israeli Cultural Centre in Ikoyi and forwarded them to his sponsors in Iran.
“The suspect added that in a bid to cover up his malevolent activity in Lagos, his handlers offered him financial support to establish a small business as a decoy”.
Berende regretted that they could not carry out their wicked act before they were apprehended and asked for forgiveness, adding that he would assist the security agencies to work for a safe, peaceful and united Nigeria.
Ogar, however, said the suspects will soon be arraigned in court, and charged with engaging in heinous crimes against Nigeria and the people.
“From the foregoing, there is conclusive evidence that Berende in collaboration with his Iranian handlers were involved in grievous crimes against the national security of this country. Accordingly, Berende and his accomplices will be charged to court soon,” Ogar said.
